VREDEHOEK GUEST FARM | OUR STORY

Vredehoek Guest Farm is a beautiful working fruit farm, tucked away in a secret valley high on the slopes of the majestic Mosterhoek Twins, awaiting nature lovers.

A Gravel road leads to various self-catering accommodation and a private, exclusive campsite surrounded with mountains and breath-taking views of the Breede River Valley.

Individuals/groups needing to escape from the city rush, will definitely feel refreshed after enjoying the fresh champagne air while fishing, jogging, canoeing, hiking, cycling or relaxing in front of the fireplace with a glass of local wine. Visits to the surrounding towns of Tulbagh (only 38km), Ceres (only 31km), Worcester (only 31km), Rawsonville (only 31km), Wolseley (only 22km) and a drive along the Historic Bainskloof Pass will be enough to keep you more than entertained.

Conveniently located near some of the most famous wine farms and with easy reach of all the Breede River Wine Cellars and Wedding Venues. Enjoy a wide variety of memorable activities and sceneries and do not forget the well-known ‘Soetes and Sop’. Join Horse About Trails to experience a soul-restoring horseback trail between Wolseley and Tulbagh. Matroosberg peak of adventure in Ceres is well known for fun in the snow in winter time. Visitors to Bosjes wil find the journey worthwhile, if only to see the Chapel, an architectural masterpiece, and to enjoy the landscaped Chapel gardens. Ceres Zipslide Adventures offer the best Zipline Tour in Africa experience this 1.4 km of pure adrenalin Eco Adventure. Adene Farm Flowers in Wolseley specialize in growing unusual varieties of flowers and foliage, open days are incredibly popular and welcome visitors every Saturday and Sunday (seasonal). If you’re looking for fresh juicy fruit in summer, it doesn’t get much fresher than picking it yourself at Hoogwater Fruit Experience in Wolseley. The Animal Sanctuary at Fynbos Guest Farm in Wolseley offers day visitors a wonderful experience to see and interact with the rescued and rehomed animals.

Vredehoek is absolutely stunning. We stayed at the Sauvignon Blanc Chalet, which was nicely sized for 2-4 people, was equipped with everything you need for self catering (well equipped kitchen, braai, fireplace, TV etc.), and was spotlessly clean. What we really appreciated about this chalet was the aircon in the summer heat, which often exceeded 40 degrees during the day! The chalet has beautiful views overlooking the vineyards and orchards, and up the toward the hill/mountainside. We sat outside on the stoop every morning, drinking in the quiet fresh air, and enjoying the symphony of birdsong. There are 4 walking trails on the farm that don’t take too long to complete. The one we enjoyed the most took us around the hillside, past a huge old oak tree, and down to the Waboom’s River where we dipped our feet in the icy cold mountain stream and watched the gorgeous sunset over the valley. It was an absolutely relaxing experience that has contributed to wonderful memories. Mally, our host, communicated with us from the time we made the booking until we left, and was very quick to assist us with whatever we needed – even providing us with the load-shedding schedule and a list of things to do in the area for our stay. This is the perfect place to stay if you plan to do the Breerivier/Tulbach/Rawsonville wine routes, or just enjoy the stunning surrounds. We will definitely be returning to try their “Cheeky Campsite”, and to experience a winter stay when the mountaintops are covered in snow. 5/5 Will recommend a stay here without any hesitation.

The house is spacious and has much of what you needed, though not much more. Rooms are very basic but serve their purpose. The real attraction here is the amazing location and surroundings. Great for a weekend away with friends or family.

A truly magical experience from the moment we booked, till we left. The house was spotlessly clean and our host was warm and more than accommodating. Surrounded by majestic mountains and the gentle sounds of nature at your doorstep, the farm is a little slice of heaven. Our large family of 11 look forward to visiting again soon!
